Aftermath

I Shouldn’t Have to Use a Toilet Brush to Clean the Tub

by Andrea Watson

So I did it. I kicked out my best friend. It was painful, but not messy. he went without a fuss. I was the only fussy one. I a still overly emotional, the saltwater threatens all my food at this point, not just the granola. I am still a wreck, but I have a pleading eye on the prize;there is a bit of hope.

I got some of my housecleaning done in between hours of depression sleeping. It started with the dishes and ended with my bathroom. As many of you know, my son is autistic. And as any autism parent will tell you, there is no limit to just how hard potty training can be. My son will be nine next month. Yesterday I sent hi to take a bath to wash the poo out of his hair and eyebrows (yes…I know). He got in the bath and promptly went. I was horrified, even though I shouldn’t have been.

He cleaned out the majority of the mess with his hands and then took a shower to wash himself. But in the end I was stuck cleaning out mu tub with a toilet brush first, then I did a second round with my trusty Ajax and scrubber. And I feel like i really shouldn’t have to do that. It’s just ridiculous. And disgusting.

At this moment, he has been pooping for an hour and now he is howling at me to come upstairs so he can take a bath. Dear God, what is the damage today? BRB. Okay, it’s over now. So the sobbing and depression continues, but I am not defeated yet. I worked again today and made a little extra cash. Last night I spent $100 on a birthday present for Lucien that he really wanted and absolutely could not wait for. I hate doing things over a month early like that but I was not going to hear the end of it unless I did it so there, that is done.

Now I just need money for Solstice presents and we’ll be all good. Except I still have bills to pay. I plan on doing some more cleaning tonight after Lucien passes out (hopefully). And then it is back to writing as normal. No more big big long breaks between posts, no more whiny, poor-me crap, I need to seriously get back into my groove. And I will.

Thanks for hearing me out yet again, dear readers. I know this stuff isn’t interesting and it’s just basically like reading pages out of a journal at this point. But I promise I’m coming back with new, original and helpful content for your enjoyment and mine as well. Thank you, thank you for sticking with me through this. I love you all. Til next time,

Andrea xo
